Meditation is all about to apply techniques for mind relaxation and to improve mental energy. I believe that is not an intellectual activity, but an attempt to expand our consciousness and be aware of our ‘real sense of being. Meditation can be a practical tool for relaxation, concentration and better health; it can also be an invaluable tool to self discovery. Through meditation we develop the capacity to be content with ourselves as we are. It is a happiness not dependent on external wealth and success. If practiced correctly, meditation can be a powerful antidote to depressive thoughts.
Numerous studies have shown that meditation has health benefits. Many of these benefits are related to the decrease in stress that occurs through meditation. For example, with lower levels of stress and anxiety, the probability of heart disease diminishes significantly.
This is not to say meditation guarantees you good health. But, there is a growing awareness of the link between our state of mind and physical health. Quite often physical ailments are symptoms of inner turmoil. Meditation can give us peace of mind, and this can be a helpful step in avoiding many stress related ailments. Meditation has also been shown to relieve the pain associated with certain illnesses.
How do I Mediate?
- Choose a place where you can sit in relax way without any disturbance.
- Sit in proper posture in which you can sit comfortably for a longer period, with your hands resting on knees.
- Keep your spinal column straight to maintain smooth flow of energy.
- Close your eyes and try to gaze at the middle of your eyebrows with your eyes closed.
- Do not force to see any thing, just relax yourself.
- Flow of thoughts will start coming to your mind which do not arise in normal course. Do not try to stop the flow of thoughts but again try to concentrate and again the flow of thoughts will start and again try to concentrate at the middle of your eyebrows.
- Do this practice for approximately 30minutes daily.
